Nina (my companion)

Nina was a rescue dog that we adopted for my wife's parents.  She was a Maltese mix with a very strong personality. The dog was too difficult for my in-laws, so we quickly became her parents.

The dog slept by our bed for the next few months.  I went on a business trip and when I returned at night found her in the bed, sleeping on my pillow. As it was late, I pushed her off the pillow despite her growling and went to sleep.

The next few months were interesting as Nina had a love-hate relationship with both me and the wife.  When Nina was with me, she growled at the wife when she approached and visa versa.  She was very possessive and ruled the roost with an iron paw.

Nina did not like to share her stuffed animals
